It is really important to Nicola that her work integrates with communities and people. Her project development comes from bottom-up, evidence-based approaches that put the people involved at the heart of decision making.
Nicola completed her Master’s degree in Culture, Creativity and Entrepreneurship in 2021, receiving a distinction, and used the opportunity to focus on the use of Creativity as a tool for wellbeing and as an integral part of everyday life. This period of study worked well alongside Nicola’s own practice in textiles looking at hand stitch and creative approaches to textile art combining the delivery of community workshops and projects.
Nicola has wide ranging experience across community focused arts, having worked in leadership and delivery roles for nearly 20 years in art centres in London and Oxfordshire as well as her current practice across Yorkshire, most recently in community engagement as part of the national Big Local project.
